This section of the site is dedicated to documenting the growth, struggles, wins, and ongoing lessons learned from building this blog from scratch.
Why Create a Blogging Journey Page?
Since launching Home and Pocket, I’ve received quite a few questions from readers about how the blog started, how it’s monetized, and what goes into running it day-to-day.
Instead of keeping that information behind the curtain, I decided to open it all up.
This new page is a transparent look at everything behind the scenes—from the very first blog post to building traffic, monetizing, and staying consistent.
What You’ll Find on the Page
- Monthly Traffic Updates:
I’ve included screenshots from Google Analytics showing site growth month by month. It’s not all up and to the right—there are dips and flat periods too, and I talk about why. (Insert screenshot or graph from the page showing monthly traffic growth)
- Monetization Progress:
Want to know when the first dollar came in? I share income reports with simple graphs showing affiliate earnings, ad revenue, and other streams. You’ll see how income grows slowly (and sometimes inconsistently) before gaining traction. (Insert graph of monthly income or first monetization milestone image)
- Tools and Resources I Use:
From hosting providers to email tools to content calendars, I list what I’ve used (and sometimes stopped using), with honest feedback. This section is especially useful if you’re thinking of starting your own blog. - Lessons Learned:
I share real insights on what’s worked for me and what hasn’t—like how certain articles brought in a surprise spike in traffic, or why some content flopped despite hours of effort.
