Welcome to the newly created and launched

“Home and Pocket”

website and its “Pilot” article.

I want to use this initial post to welcome you to the website and following blog as well as to introduce you to the ideas that led to the creation of this site.

Like many of you reading this article, I have a day job, a life, and a family – whom I care about deeply.

I work EVERY DAY to earn a living and provide for my family.

I also have several things outside of work that I am passionate about: investing, reading, writing, and helping others.

For a long time, I knew I wanted to do more in my life than just my career, but I seldom had the time or the energy.

This new project “Home and Pocket”

is an attempt (rather huge leap) to capture my desire to “Do More” while also helping others with topics I already enjoy talking about daily.

My vision for the “Home and Pocket” website and Blog is to serve several functions in the long run.

Initially, I aim for this to be a source of information, entertainment, inspiration, and motivation for all things personal investing, budgeting, financial advice, marriage, retirement, family life, and more!

I believe that along with myself, my spouse, friends, and family we can provide you all with sound life advice on those topics regardless of what phase of life you find yourself in.

If nothing more, we hope to entertain you with some things you will read. I believe I can do this through my own life experiences of being a husband, father of three, career soldier, college graduate, etc……………

LET’S just say I feel comfortable with WRITING about these topics and doing the research to provide sound articles.

My observations and source of motivation to those I hope to help and inspire are broad and direct.

I believe there is a serious problem in our country.

This issue affects a large group of Americans who have become lost, frustrated and stalled. Their personal and professional lives are impacted.

I believe these things because of what I hear and see.

I also experience them from news outlets, personal interactions, social media sensations, and current social trends. I believe the last 20-plus years have been hard on a large group of people.

This is particularly true for young adults who had to experience the full force of 9-11. They also faced the preceding twenty years of war, a financial crisis, Covid-19, and social unrest.

Yes, that’s a lot to deal with, especially for young people. To be honest, there is a part of me that understands why and how a lot of young Americans are in the situations they are in now.

But none of that is an acceptable reason to remain in your current state.

However, I also believe we have become a nation of complainers when It comes to our problems, or “perceived problems.”

I hear it all the time, “the American Dream is Dead”. Please, just stop that nonsense. That couldn’t be farther from the truth.

But I’ll save that for another article. That being said, I do believe there are a plethora of problems facing young people today. However, as the article title states – “Stop admiring your problems.”

We, as a society, have become very proficient at quickly identifying our current circumstances. We immediately complain about them.

We remain in that state of mind indefinitely. I heard a quote from one of my favorite movies that is simple and powerful, “Just Solve the Problem.” That’s all life is really, just one problem after another. The more problems you solve, the longer you get to play the game of life.

My biggest fear and one of the reasons I hope this site will help people is the feeling of regret.

Today’s young people are missing out on pursuing healthy relationships. These relationships hopefully lead to marriage and children, financial freedom, and long-term wealth.

They miss out because they perceive the world to be unjust and unfair in their pursuit of a better life.

Never in human history has anyone lived in a more prosperous, safe, and opportunity-rich environment.

The means to success and happiness are endless. It only requires awareness, direction, and dedication to achieve the American dream. Of course, you must STOP admiring your problems and solve them.
